Work Related Education
A big thank you to all of the parents who have already returned the questionaire about possible links that school can make with the world of work!

We've had a great response and have put together a comprehensive bank of resources that we can call upon to support this area of the curriculum when neccessary.

News
New Term
shirt

Thurs 2nd Sept and Fri 3rd Sept are INSET days. The children start back on Monday 6th Sept. Please ensure that personal property, especially coats, bags, jumpers and cardigans are clearly labelled with your child's name. Each year we end up with masses of unnamed lost property which must have cost a small fortune!

National Welsh Heritage Competition

Last Summer 30 children in Class 10 took part in a big History project about a pageant which took place in Cardiff 100 years ago. The children created dances and learnt to play Tudor music on the recorder. They re-enacted a scene from the original pageant and carried out research to write their own new scene, both of which were performed in public at Cardiff Castle. A DVD of their work was made and we entered it and their written work in the National Welsh Heritage competition. A panel of judges came to the school this year and on 9th July we were awarded a prize of £500 for the school. This was the 3rd highest award. Well done to all the children involved!

Here is an extract from the School's response to the inspection report:
'The staff and governors have considered the outcomes of the inspection and are delighted that the findings acknowledge that Ton-Yr-Ywen is a very good school, with very many outstanding features in so many aspects of its provision. We hope that children and parents will enjoy reading all the positive comments that the inspectors have made about them and their school.'
